春节 (CHUN JIE)

By YaFei Zhang (Gr.8)
& Catherine Zhang (Gr.7)
Medium: Paper, ink on paper

We made decorations for our Chinese teacher’s classroom. Teachers and students can learn more about the Chinese’s culture by looking at our decorations. People will be surprised when they see the papercut-outs and the couplets. We used pencils, rulers, brush pen, scissors, ink, and 3 different kinds of red papers to do this project. We choose these to use because we needed to cut the papers into the size that we want, then use the brush pen to write on it. We would like the viewers to know the meaning of “fu(福)”, and the sentences that are on the couplets. We put the “fu” on the door because it means good fortune.
I have experience in a range of media, although I have my own particular preferences that I keep coming back to. If my style speaks to you, I’d love to work with you in the future. Please be in touch to find out more and to discuss how we can collaborate on whatever you have in mind.
