Drawing class students learned about contour drawing and gesture drawing techniques.
Contour drawings are designed to slow the artist down, to build hand-eye coordination, and to develop observational skills, particularly when looking at lines, shapes and details.
Gesture drawings are designed to be quick. They help the artist get a sense for the emotion or movement of the subject while looking at the overall shapes and postures of the subject.
The following drawings were completed by the drawing class students, focusing on both the techniques of contour and gesture drawings.
